parties from the bookshelf: Tikki Tikki Tembo

September 9, 2010

Melanie is back with another Parties from the Bookshelf!  This week’s book is from Tikki Tikki Tembo.  The richly colored illustrations and setting of the childhood classic Tikki Tikki Tembo can provide plenty of party ideas. Clustered Chinese lanterns, oriental tea tins, take out boxes and the flying of butterfly kites would create a cheerful scene without the falling in the well part of the story!

First row: paper lanterns, rice bowls
Second row: butterfly kite, wall art, illustration from book
Third row: tea tin floral , take out boxes and chopsticks , favors

I love this book. I taught 1st grade many years ago and read it to my class every year, probably more than once. What a great party idea.

LOVE this! i have often used a book for inspiration in halloween costumes and it gets lost a bit as folks try to guess what you are. this is perfect use of the inspiration and what a great book!

My mom read this book to me as a kid and it’s still one of our favorites!
